Flags played important roles in eighteenth-century society. Many nations had “national” flags. Ships flew those flags to display their country of origin. Military companies, regiments and battalions carried flags to identify their units in parades and as rallying points during the heat of battle. Flags like America's "Old Glory" evolved during the Revolution to become a symbol of a larger purpose.
Most have been lost over time. Those that survived are revered as historical treasures.
Join Robin Preston and Harry Rinker from the Central Florida Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution for an in-depth presentation on 20 unique flags of the American Revolutionary War period.
