Identifying the community’s needs and expectations, then meeting or exceeding them, is a fundamental principle of public library service. The Library offers a wide variety of materials to meet those needs and to allow individuals the opportunity to choose materials for themselves.

The Collection Development Policy sets the standard for the selection of materials and the maintenance of the collection, all of which supports the Library’s mission statement:

Using Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

  • The Maitland Public Library has partnered with other libraries in Florida to share materials through Interlibrary Loan.
  • Requests made through ILL may take several weeks to fulfill.
  • ILL is available only to resident and fee cardholders. Reciprocal borrowers will need to make requests through their home libraries.

  • Log in here with your Maitland Public Library card number and PIN (default is the last four of your phone number).
  • Search the catalog in the search bar at the top of the page.
  • Find the title you want and if it’s available, select REQUEST.
  • Maitland Public Library staff will verify your eligibility to receive books through ILL and process your request.
  • From there, your request will be sent to the partner library for them to fulfill. Again, this can take anywhere from days to weeks.
  • If for any reason a partner library cannot fulfill your request, staff will be in touch with you to let you know.
