  • Current lease, or
  • Recent mail postmarked and delivered by the United States Postal Service.

Residents of the Incorporated City of Maitland:

  • Residents must show proof of residence or property ownership within the City of Maitland. Resident cards expire three years from the date of issue.

Reciprocal Borrowing for Residents of Orange County, Florida, or the Incorporated City of Winter Park:

  • Maitland Public Library has reached an agreement to allow Orange County Library System and Winter Park Library resident patrons in good standing the opportunity to borrow library materials from MPL with a Reciprocal Library Card. Applicants for Reciprocal Borrowing Privileges must provide their WPL or OCLS library card and proof of residential address; MPL staff will verify good standing with the applicant’s home library. Reciprocal privileges apply only to on-shelf items and do not include electronic resources. Reciprocal cards expire one year from date of issue.

Minor or Dependent Children:

  • Minor or dependent children may have library cards of their own as either Resident or Reciprocal Borrowers. The parent or legal guardian must have a Maitland Public Library card in good standing and must be willing to accept financial responsibility for materials borrowed on the child’s card; both parent/guardian and child must be present to apply for a library card. Children have the same borrowing privileges as their parents/ guardians (exception: only adult cardholders may check out Learning Kits or a Telescope).

Borrowing Privileges for Those Living Outside of Orange County, Florida:

  • Fee cards are available to anyone residing outside of our service area, including those portions of Seminole County with Maitland postal addresses. Fee cards grant full access to library materials; one card serves for all members of that household. Fee cards cost $60 and expire one year from date of issue.

City Staff & Teachers in Maitland Schools:

  • City of Maitland employees and teachers in schools within the City of Maitland are eligible for a free library card regardless of residence. Such employees must provide City or teacher identification and proof of residential address. Cards expire one year from the date of issue.

Maitland Area Chamber of Commerce Members:

  • Any business that is a current member of the Maitland Area Chamber of Commerce is eligible for one (1) free, full-service Maitland Public Library card. The designated representative of the business must accept responsibility for all materials borrowed and agree to abide by all policies and guidelines of the Maitland Public Library. Cards expire one year from the date of issue.

Maitland residents 17 and older may apply online for temporary borrowing privileges; new card holders will have to come to the Library with proof of residency to finalize the process but will be able to request items for pick-up and use electronic materials after receiving their card information. We are unable to process requests for cards for children online, but parents can apply for borrowing privileges for their children in person at the Library.
