Youth Summer Reading Program 2017

 

Every Thursday throughout the summer, we’ll have a special Summer Reading Program event! These events are always FREE and open to the public, no library card required. All ages are welcome! Our regular storytimes and other classes will continue as usual through the Summer.

JUNE

Saturday, June 3, 2:00 PM: Summer Reading Kickoff with Big Idea Balloons
See a magic show, then learn how to build your own balloon animals!

Thursday, June 8, 2:00 PM: Under Construction with Professor DoDad
Professor DoDad’s hilarious and educational show will feature engineering and construction!

Thursday, June 15, 2:00 PM: “Under the Sea” with Actors Reaching Out
Actors Reaching Out is a local non-profit group who are coming to do an “Under the Sea” themed performance. Stick around after for Finding Dory!

Thursday, June 22, 2:00 PM: Recycled Robots
The library will hosting a “crafternoon” for you to come build robots out of recycled materials. Supplies provided. (NOTE: not mechanical robots, no electricity, coding, or wiring will be used)

Thursday, June 29, 2:00 PM: Audubon Society Birds of Prey
Our neighbors at the Audubon Society will teach us about some great birds, and show them to us as well!

JULY

Thursday, July 6, 2:00 PM: Music with Mar
Music with Mar is all about teaching kids through music and dance. Come by for a free lesson!

Thursday, July 13, 2:00 PM: Taiko Drumming with Zero Taiko
Atsumi is a professional Taiko drummer who has worked at EPCOT, and she’s coming to show us how she tells stories through drumming.

Thursday, July 20, 2:00 PM: Hula Hooping
Come learn all about hula hoops from a professional, then give it a shot yourself!

Thursday, July 27, 2:00 PM: Winter Park Construction
One of the most established construction companies in the area is coming to teach us all about what it’s really like to work in construction!

AUGUST

Thursday, August 3, 2:00 PM: Rail Safety with SunRail
Come learn all about trains and train safety with Tie the SunRail Squirrel! Bring your reading logs along and turn them in for a chance to win our Grand Prize.
