Donate to the
Maitland Public Library
The Maitland Public Library sincerely appreciates all the gifts we receive from our patrons and supporters. There are several ways you can make donations to the Library.
Direct contributions:
Donations of cash may be used by the library in two ways. Gifts of any amount may be put toward operating expenses (books and other materials, program supplies, printing of publicity and for postage, etc) or, at the donor’s request, may be deposited to the library’s Endowed Book Fund. Interest from the monies invested in the Fund is used each year to purchase books for the library. Gifts in the amount of $250.00 or more may be used to establish an endowment for a person, a family, or even an event, such as the birth of a child, a marriage, or retirement. Smaller donations are merged with other like donations and provide books each year as well. The library has a brochure which provides additional information on the endowment program. We also encourage planned giving—one of our recent large contributions was from the estate of a former patron. Contributions in the form of cash or check may be mailed or dropped off at:

Joint Fund-raising efforts:
In the fall of 2007 the library partnered with the Maitland Art Center, the Maitland Historical Society and Performing Arts of Maitland to conduct a joint fundraising campaign. Maitland residents received a solicitation in their utility bills inviting them to contribute to a pool that will be divided among the four cultural partners. Trevi Development is matching those contributions up to $2500.00.
Donations of saleable used books:
Used books donated to the library are first reviewed by librarians to see if they may be of use in the library’s collection. Those not appropriate for the collection are passed along to the Friends of the Library for their used book sale. The Friends use the proceeds from the book sales to sponsor educational programs as well as the Leased Book program, DLLI delivery of Interlibrary Loan materials and DearReader online book clubs.
Unused gift cards:
Store gift cards with any amount remaining, from cents to dollars, may be used by the library to purchase books, audio-visual materials, programming materials, even cleaning supplies. If you don’t know what to do with an unwanted gift card, the library can find a way to use it.
Tax benefits:
The library is an approved IRS non-profit corporation (501(c)3). Contributions to the Maitland Public Library are deductible to the extent allowed by law. Consult your tax advisor to determine how to report your contributions to the library.
Credit card payments:
Currently the library cannot accept credit card payments. When we have concluded the current upgrade to our automated system, hopefully within the next 6 months, automated payments will be possible.
Questions:
If you have questions please call the library (407) 647-7700 or email the Director of Library Services: kpotter@maitlandpubliclibrary.org.
Thank you!
